So today was another amazing day in Lauren's journey. Lauren was asked to do a follow-up piece with Colorado & Company after our taping of the doctors. Had no idea it was LIVE but I think we did ok. Got to see the Channel 9 news room and the stage where it is filmed. What a fantastic group of people over at 9News and Colorado & Company. Big shout out to our host Tawnya Rush and Producer Dreux DeMack who made us feel so comfortable and welcome! Dreux is a big Cyclists and has committed to riding with us ... right Dreux now who else can we get from 9News? If your interested in watching the show from today, here is the link.

So 11-20-13 Lauren's episode aired. Have to thank everyone for all the kind words of excitement and encouragement! Now the training begins. 100 miles with Dr. Stork in June 2014. Voice overs?? For those of you love batman movies you will recognize this one! The studio provides for an on set tutor for any children on set (had no idea darn it). She was there to help the girls with anything they needed and wouldn't you know the did not bring there homework! However we were so blessed to get to spend time with Linda. What a fantastic lady! She gave us a list of things to do and see when we went to Santa Monica and was just so much fun to talk with. It would not have been the same experience so... Thank you Linda!!! So we can't say to much about the show other than it was the neatest thing to experience and everyone one on "The Doctors" staff were so good to us. All four of us got hair and makeup... Even Scott. We had our own dressing room and got to have a stylist. "The Doctors" themselves well all we can saw is that they were just as nice as they appear to be on tv. Even with a crazy shooting schedule they took time out in between tapings to pose for a couple quick pictures and talk with us! Lauren in the green room getting "miked". We all got "miked"=) Had to make the most out of the short visit to LA so after we checked into the hotel which was right on Hollywood Blvd across from Graumans Chinese theater. We did the Hollywood Star Walk of fame and Madame Tussaud's wax museum. Got this one for Grandma Joan And this one was for Nana Sorry it has been crazy so here is an update. We are here. Started off pretty cool with our very own driver. This was Alex. He was so great. Told us lots of great stories about famous people he has driven. Hoping Lauren can Help educate and inspire just one person. Ok and getting to experience the whole tv thing is pretty cool! Oh and we get to work with Dr. Travis Stork ... Hum? So we left today to go visit nana and papa in AZ. Had a few more firsts... 1.We had to figured out how Lauren had to go through security. FYI if you have a fake leg you don't have to take it off. You do have to take off the shoe though like everyone else! They swab the leg and foot and then we were good to go! 2. Lauren cruised through the airport. This is huge because usually she has to go pretty slow because of the distance and pain. 3. Had to board a packed plane and get her new leg into the very generous (NOT) window seat. 4. Then of course miss independent had to get hers and Taylor's VERY large suitcase off the conveyor belt. Taylor and I had fun by yelling to her "make sure you don't loose you leg". SO fun to watch the faces on people. As soon as it came around she grabbed it but a very kind man(To the right) was standing there next to her ready to help "just in case". People are so kind. 5. Lauren swam in the pool with the leg for the first time. Said "it sure felt weird. Like she was going fast but wasn't". Her goal this trip is to swim 100 laps in one day before we leave. We start the training tomorrow!! 6. First time "the knub" got sunscreen and some sun. Till tomorrow... |
